A Movement By Citizens  Demanding Transparency, Accountability, and Community Engagement for Central CUSD 301/Burlington in the State of Illinois.Building A Better District is a taxpayer-led movement and is not affiliated with, nor endorsed by, the Illinois State or Kane County Regional Board of Education, nor any individual school district, or administration/Board of Education. 

The community has access to statistics and information on our district's performance through the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) Report Card and the University of Chicago's "5 Essentials Survey".  Find out more about each of these tools below.

The 5 Essentials Survey

The "5Essentials Survey" is an educational assessment tool designed to gather feedback from teachers, students, and parents/guardians about the school environment and its impact on learning. The survey is used to assess the strengths and areas for improvement within schools, with the goal of promoting better educational outcomes.

The survey is based on research conducted at the University of Chicago Consortium on School Research, which identified five essential components that are linked to school success and student learning.

The 5Essentials Survey typically asks respondents (teachers, students, and parents/guardians) to provide feedback on these five essential areas by answering a series of questions related to each component. The survey results are then analyzed to identify areas of strength and areas that may need improvement within a school.

ISBE State Report Card

The Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) annual report card is a comprehensive document that provides detailed information about the performance and characteristics of Illinois public schools and school districts. This report card is a critical tool for parents, educators, policymakers, and the public to assess the state of education in Illinois and make informed decisions.

The ISBE annual report card serves as a critical tool for transparency and accountability in the Illinois education system. It allows stakeholders to assess the performance of schools and districts, identify areas for improvement, and make data-informed decisions to enhance educational outcomes for students across the state.
